The game of TAG at Bugis Junction.

  So, we where asked to do this homework, which is to play Tag game with strangers at crowded areas. My group went to Bugis Junction to try it out.

  None of us wanted to make the first move, and was planning what to do as this might get pretty awkward, which in fact it really did.

  After about half an hour of hesitation, we started the game.

  

  Below is my video of trying to tag a stranger, which she looked at me blindly after I tagged her.(I wish I could drop dead on the spot at that point of time.lol)

       My group mates tried various ways to tag a stranger, be it to tag small kids from behind which they did not even notice the ‘tag’, or to go down an escalator to tag someone on the opposite side. Also trying to target people who looks nicer, just in case we might get scolded. 

 It was a fun experience over all, also a great way to bond with my new class mates. Learning that we can be creative in a lot of things we do, just like how we came up with ideas to TAG strangers and not to look like a idiot(I did look like one though). ;w;

A review on Tales of creativitity and play, Tim Brown.

  The speech given by Tim Brown, the CEO and president of IDEO was truly amazing and inspiring.

  In this short 30 minutes speech given, he uses various examples to convey the message that, playfulness is important, we can be playful even with our serious work, but why?

  He states that as we grow up as an adult, we are afraid of taking risk, we are afraid of judgment from others, we are being too serious about everything, so we might come up with lesser ideas as we are more conserved.

  What makes us more open and come up with new ideas may come in forms of play, be it exploration, which is about going for quantity, or building, and thinking with your hands. Also roleplay, where acting it out helps us both to have more empathy for the situations in which we’re designing, and to create services and experiences that are seamless and authentic. 

  To be more convincing, one of the examples he give is people trying on experiences on roleplaying, by following a script that the participant agreed to, which is the rules, leads to productive play, producing useful results. Also showing that the idea of play can be a tool for prototyping experiences.

  In fact, play can help us think freely, getting us to creative solutions, hence, we are open with more possibilities.  This helps us do our jobs better, also feel better when we do them, , which is actually pretty pragmatic.

 I was really convinced by the content of his speech, and going to share this video with you.

The first day of School at NAFA!!! :D

  Since November 2014(last year), I have been having this long holiday for almost 9 months. 

  I tried all kinds of lifestyles just to pass time during this period, be it to sleep for 14hrs a day then watch dramas after I wake up, to being awake for more than 24hrs and packed with all shorts of activities.

  So, I was really excited and relief that I can finally have a regular lifestyle as I start school in NAFA with a diploma in Fine Art.

  In fact, I was first appointed to a management course in polytechnic after I got my O’s result(though my initial choice was engineering), and did Sciences back then in secondary school, the last art class I attended was when I’m in Sec two. Hence, after I quit school from poly to apply NAFA, I was really excited, can’t wait to have a different life as an art student.

 The first day of school have finally came, 20th of July. The first lesson was Creative Thinking, I reached the class exactly on time at 11am, wondering what Creative Thinking lesson would be, it should be to enhance our abilities in thinking different ideas, to have a wider range of imaginations, I thought. 

  The lecturer Mr Rahman asked us asked interesting questions with sense of humour, also brief us on the fact that being an art student can be really busy with all the work and drawings. Then, left homework for us, which is to open a blog to do documentation.(Which is this blog :D )

  In short, I had a great start in school, made new friends and is looking forward to the life ahead.

 PS: There’s lots of nice food around Bugis area, I’m likely to gain about 5kg at the end of the year.
